A very unsettling and odd vanishing happened to Christopher Thompkins from Ellerslie, Georgia. He was last seen by work mates standing on the shoulder of the road facing the woods at 1.30pm on 25th January 2002. He literally vanished within seconds leaving the survey crew very perplexed. They walked back to where they had seen him only to find his boot hanging on the barbed wire fence along with blue fabric from his pants. On the ground beneath were coins that had fallen from his pocket. The woods on the other side of the fence were inhospitable and swampy.
David Paulides, former lawman turned investigator, tells us that during his time working with traffic accidents he has seen shoes left behind by people who were literally “hit so fast that they were knocked right out of them”. He says that logistically it looks like Christopher was reefed out of his boots and dragged through the fence in such a position that all the coins fell out of his pocket.
When gravity drags coins to the ground it means that the opening for the coins was either facing the ground or the container holding the coins was removed at a great speed - very similar to the magician who removes the tablecloth without disturbing the cutlery. This means that Chris was either upside down or sideways.
Six months later the rancher who owned the land found the other missing boot 900 yards away next to the swamp. Christopher Tompkins is still missing.
predator....all i have to say
ReplyDeleteAs noted, David Paulides, a former San Jose, CA police officer and detective, has pursued a second career as an author writing about unexplained disappearances in American national parks and other North American venues. He has discussed this case in his radio appearances. One thing I discount here is foul play by his co-workers, possibly racially motivated. Nothing is impossible but these were skilled workers, surveyors, and these usually are people of higher caliber. For another thing, I doubt a black person would have been a novelty to them. Some or all of them may have been in the military or have been on a varsity team.
ReplyDeleteThe only thing I have heard that suggests possible stereotyped racial attitudes on the part of Tompkins's co-workers was that they expressed the belief that he may have walked off the job. Not that white men, young or old, don't do that sometimes.
In a case like this, you have to consider the normal terrestrial explanations of foul play, animal predation or mental aberration on the part of the missing person. But Paulides has collected and documented hundreds of case of people who simply suddenly have disappeared while momentarily out of the sight of the people they are with. Paulides says the persons who disappear often are either the first or the last person in a line of people.
His forensic interest is in proving that these events do in fact occur. But he refuses to take sides on the issue of what the reason might be. That has proven to be an intelligent choice on his part because the advocates of the various possible explanations both normal and paranormal often are extremely adamant in their views.
I first heard about this case while paulides was on coast to coast .
ReplyDeleteI’ve since read several articles concerning Tompkins disappearance it is fair to comment that paulides really hasn’t done much in the form of investigation into the Tompkins case really all he has done is duplicate the case summary found on the web site the charley project
And for everyone that thinks crytip grabbed this guy and ran off with him you need to consider this
The crew that he was working with that day looked for Tompkins they said for upwards of 3 hrs before they contacted anyone that he was missing
That is ample time to hide a body then blow the warning signal that he can’t be found
His boot hanging from a fence suggest that maybe there was a struggle with another crew memeber and at some point Tompkins went over the fence either in an attempt to get away or by force of another
It may very well be that that Tompkins lost his boot while escaping an attack then ran into the swamp area and lost his other boot in the mud and the muck in that environment
When a person is attacked by a wild animal
There is evidence of that
Blood tissue would be found at some point
I think the real mystery here is what led to the altercation between Tompkins and the responsible party for his disappearance
I have traveled to the area Tompkins went missing and I certainly aware of how remote and heavily forested the area is
If was critically injured and hiding in the wilderness area of elerslie it wd be very difficult to find him once a search was initiated
As for paulides I have read the missing 411 books and I tell you this
They offer very little insight into what has happened to the missing above and beyond
The official report found on other sites like the doe network and the charley project
Go buy one of his books if you want to but before u read the case summary of anyone person in his books look that name up on the charley project
You will find the source of mr paulides work on the case
So if u want to call that good investigative work ok
Paulidas investigates many cases and if he had answers he would surely put them out there.. He can’t possibly investigate each and every case but if you feel you can do better then please do.
Deletethis case rates no 1 in all the cases in missing 411 books.
ReplyDeleteMurder was ruled out.by the deputys.
Something odd happened to Chris.not of this world
I've thought about this case. First, remote and heavily forested area. His tools were strewn on the ground, the location of the first boot found and fiber on the fence not far from the road, along with the coins on the ground beneath it. The location of the second boot found hung up on the fence some 900 yards further on. All of which, to me at least, scream he was snatched up and carried away...quickly. Over the fences, through the impenetrable swamp. At the risk of a barrage of ridicule I'd like to venture a theory... Bigfoot! Perhaps there was one in the area, spied the men, and determined the last in line was easy prey. It certainly would explain a lot...
ReplyDeleteListen what's the most famous saying about time when you add the impossible that could have happened and it fits you have your answer I truly believe that 45 hundred people disappear every year in America in the woods I believe in Bigfoot I believe some of them nice but at least some of them eat people because they've been known to eat deer and Hogs the proof is overwhelming in 1975 they done a huge documentary I'm Bigfoot number one watched show that week they done lie detector test and hypnosis the people passed with flying colors every single one of them then all of a sudden it all disappeared for some reason I believe our government is hiding this and I don't know why there's too many pictures there's too many bodies missing we have hair samples that say it is primates an unknown primate which means an Undiscovered ape we have huge Footprints we have thousands of videos and thousands of sidings these creatures do exist and I believe this is what happened to her son what else could it carried him into a swamp at that rate of speed that big of a man that quickly without a noise what wild animal cuz I stopped him from screaming a Bigfoot is a Steph Hunter it will break your neck in one second will put you on his shoulder and carry you off we know this because the Indians that used to live in the south would fight the Bigfoots they have several drawings and several caves that show this so Indians have been fighting Bigfoots for thousands of years they said they had good Bigfoot and they had a huge Bigfoots that would eat people and this was way before we were ever here in America it is not a hoax it is the truth again 4500 people here disappear with no Trace think about all the appearances and think about that 1975 documentary and after that everything got quiet the government shut it down just think about it the Panic people be scared to death just to go into the woods and they should be they usually attack when people are alone and they hunt in groups please go look after new evidence is mind-boggling even the president of Russia has declared the yeti a live creature and is protected he saw it for himself when he was it a helicopter they stopped and found footprints in the middle of nowhere 40 below zero no human could live in that in the middle of the Bering Straits so if Russia can recognize Bigfoot is alive what is wrong with America I guess it's going to have to kill somebody on camera before truly hits home
ReplyDeleteMy God man! Punctuation isn’t that hard….
DeletePeriods help to tell you when one sentence ends and another begins. Good response but was hard to follow.
DeleteAs far as the foul play theory goes: put yourself in the position of his "murderers" for a minute. If his co-workers murdered him and hid his body- why not hide all of the evidence? Why leave one of his boots behind? And if you think its just sloppiness on the part of his co-workers- consider that it was his co-workers who found the boot and piece of cloth!
ReplyDeleteAnd if you were trying to get away with his murder- why make up a story that he was literally there one minute and gone the next? It would seem like you would want to throw the authorities off the trail by saying something like, "we heard a car door slam and the sound of a vehicle driving away..."
The foul play angle doesn't add up to me.
I grew up and hunted in this area off of County Line Road. I still live withing 15 miles of where this happened. In 40+ years of hunting in the area I've never heard, seen, nor smelt anything cryptid. The only thing that would scare me in these woods would be another human intent on harming someone else. Also the area is not as rural as some may believe. There are plenty of roads and developments continuing to expand in the area. The disappearance of Chris is very odd to say the least. I certainly do not believe his co-workers had anything to do with it nor do I think Chris just walked off the job. For him to have disappeared without a trace makes this a very interesting yet sad story.
ReplyDeleteThat's perhaps one of the dumbest things I've ever heard of...Dirty, hairy people that live underground?? I'd believe Bigfoot before that crazy idea....
ReplyDeleteI think the 24 hour rule needs to be changed cause who knows they may have could’ve found him within the 24 hours they wasted
ReplyDeleteI think that the co-workers are involved based on the preponderance of the evidence: a The fact that the coworkers didn't find his tools and change on the ground but his parents did so they couldn't have been looking for 3 hours b. Th at one of his co-workers lawyered up even though he was not a person of interest or a suspect c. They didn't call his mother for 3 hours but the lead guy called his wife for some reason. I also believe that more than likely the shoddy police work was not on accident I think that one or more of the coworkers know someone in law enforcement who helped them dispose of the body. That's just my opinion!
ReplyDeleteI agree 100% with this
DeleteI agree with you. The co workers were involved.
